Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
GATA Chairman Bill Murphy will be extending his stay in
South Africa by a few days to accommodate the many
requests he has received for meetings with participants
in the gold industry there.
Those meetings include the South African mining
minister and the president of the National Union of
Mineworkers. The union president told Murphy that the

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
Daan Joubert, a widely read newspaper financial
columnist in South Africa, wrote the following
article about gold and GATA this week as the
GATA delegation arrived for the Indaba 2001
mining conference in Cape Town. I'm not able to
reproduce the chart that accompanies the article,
but you'll get the point without it.

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
Thanks to GATA member J.M. for calling my attention

to think that something is wrong here. Some very big
people do too.

Chairman Bill Murphy went to South Africa to
accomplish. If South Africa can be persuaded to stand
