Barrick Gold's boss Mark Bristow has ruled out increasing his offer for arch-rival Newmont Mining.

Mr. Bristow told the Financial Times that the $18 billion nil-premium, all-stock offer for Newmont was "logical" and would combine multiple world-class gold mines into one company.

BUCHAREST, Romania -- Chamber of Deputies President Liviu Dragnea and Socia Democratic Party Sen. Serban Nicolae have proposed a bill to force the National Bank to store 95 percent of Romania's gold reserves in the country.

CARACAS, Venezuela -- At least 8 tons of gold were removed from the Venezuelan central bank's vaults last week, an opposition legislator and three government sources told Reuters, in the latest sign of President Nicolas Maduro's desperation to raise hard currency amid tightening sanctions.
