Dear Friend of GATA and Gold
Donna Guzik of InvestorCanada.com has a great interview
with Sprott Asset Management President John Embry -- but
then, does he ever give a bad interview? Embry talks about
gold's prospects amid international currency debasement.
He argues that gold is returning to currency status and
that the rally in gold has only begun even as gold

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
Gold banker Ferdinand Lips, author of quot;Gold Wars,
The Battle Against Sound Money as Seen from
a Swiss Perspective, quot; which includes generous
mention of GATA, has sent a copy of the book's
Swiss edition, titled quot; The Gold Conspiracy, quot; to his
country's political leaders along with the covering
letter reproduced below.

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
Once again GATA's great friend Jay Taylor has produced
what might well be considered a state paper in the gold
business -- a comprehensive interview with Blanchard amp;
Co. CEO Donald W. Doyle about Blanchard's increasingly
successful antitrust lawsuit against J.P. Morgan Chase
and Barrick Gold.
The interview, published in the December 15, 2003,

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
CBSMarketWatch's Peter Brimelow took a look today at
the Elliott Wavers' position on gold and found them
acknowledging that they'd have to reconsider their
bearish views if gold closed above $422. Today gold
closed at nearly $425. We await the Wavers' next
revision.

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
Gold and silver only seemed to be quiet over the Christmas
and New Year's holidays. While news organizations have
reported little about gold and silver lately, the firmness
of their prices practically screamed for attention. The
futures price action suggests that the physical market is
tight and starting to overwhelm the price suppressors of

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
Great minds probably soon will be dissecting the speeches
given Saturday at the conference of the American Economic
Association in San Diego by Federal Reserve Chairman
Alan Greenspan and Fed Governor Ben Bernanke. These
guys approach the truth in public only indirectly, but
maybe the key remark Saturday was Greenspan's

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
GATA consultant James Turk, proprietor of GoldMoney
and editor of the Freemarket Gold and Money Report,
analyzes the gold price in South African rands and
concludes that the rand's strength against gold is not
likely to continue for long. You can find his analysis

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
GATA consultant and statistician Mike Bolser has written
what may be the most important financial essay of the
year: quot;Government Intervention: Gold and Long-Term
Interest Rates.quot;
Bolser's paper sets out the statistical evidence that the
U.S. government surreptitiously intervenes not only in
the gold market but far more so in the long bond market
