Monetary research group holds fall dinner Oct. 25 in NYC

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

The annual fall meeting of the Committee for Monetary Research and Education Inc. will be held Thursday evening, October 25, at the Union League Club, 38 East 37th St., New York, just a few blocks south of Grand Central Station.

Among the speakers:

-- Leonard Liggio, vice president of the Atlas Research Foundation, whose topic will be "A View of the United States in the World Beyond the Markets."

-- Eugene Schroder, a rancher, scholar, and historian, whose topics will be "Farming, the (Endangered) Industry that Keeps the Nation Going" and "The Return of Cowboy Ethics."

-- Robert Brooke of Rhombus Research in London, whose topic will be "Learning the Lessons from Japan," in which he will compare the subprime crisis in the United States with the destruction of the Japanese financial industry in the 1990s.

-- Randall Dodd, president of the Financial Policy Forum, whose topic will be "The Credit (Debt) Crisis."

-- Martin Mayer, an author and expert on the banking industry, whose topic will be "The Use and Abuse of Credit Derivatives Ratings."

-- Richard W. Rahn, director of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority and chairman of the Institute for Global Economic Growth, whose topic will be "The End of Money."

Registration and cocktails will open at 4:30 p.m. with the proceedings starting at 5:15 p.m. and dinner served soon afterward. Admission is $150 for CMRE members and their spouses, $165 for others. Reservations are required and may be made with CMRE President Elizabeth Currier as follows:
