Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

GATA Chairman Bill Murphy has received from the
office of New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer
a reply to GATA's appeal for an investigation of
the Comex silver market of the New York Mercantile
Exchange. Murphy's including a U.S. silver eagle
with his letter seems to have gotten a little
attention, even as the coin was returned to him.

We know that the attorney general and NYMEX
have received dozens of letters, putting them on
notice about the suppression of gold and silver
prices. We don't know what the authorities will
do, but the letters are sure to make it harder for
the price suppression scheme to continue.

General Spitzer's office is appended.

for your recent letter regarding manipulation of the
silver market. Your correspondence has been
forwarded to the appropriate members of our staff.
I am sure that it will be of interest to them.

In addition, he also asked me to thank you for the
silver eagle coin. While he greatly appreciates your
thoughtfulness, the attorney general has established
a very strict policy for himself and his entire staff
which prohibits the acceptance of any gifts. Therefore,
we are returning the coin to you.

Once again, thank you for your very considerate
gesture and for sharing your views.
