Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
GATA Chairman Bill Murphy's "Midas" commentary for
August 9 at LeMetropoleCafe.com has been posted in
the clear at GoldSeek.com and is especially
remarkable for quoting comments broadcast three
years ago by CNBC analyst Lawrence Kudlow about
the ratio of oil and gold prices. Using the ratio of
Kudlow's broadcast three years ago, Murphy notes that
the price of gold should be about $765 with oil at
$45.
Instead, of course, gold is struggling to break
through $400.
Obviously some other factor is at work -- central
bank dishoarding of gold and manipulation of the
gold market.

Meanwhile, MineWeb's Tim Wood has managed to write a
long and obtuse commentary, complete with charts, on
the breakdown of the gold-oil price ratio without
mentioning central bank gold dishoarding and market
manipulation even once:

No, it's all still a mystery to Wood, or at least to
those who rely solely on MineWeb for clues about
what's really happening.
Rather than get angry about this, maybe gold's
friends should consider it more great evidence
of what GATA has been reporting for years --
evidence that even those who are not gold's friends
are starting to feel obliged to puzzle over if not
explain.
Too many anomalous things are happening in the
financial markets for everyone to be fooled much
longer.
