Former comptroller general headlines CMRE's spring dinner in NY

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

David M. Walker, the former U.S. comptroller general who heroically warned the country about the unsupportable debt it was incurring, now chief executive officer of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, will be among the speakers at the annual spring meeting of the Committee for Monetary Research and Education, to be held at the Union League Club in New York City on Thursday, May 20.

Other speakers likely to be of special interest to GATA supporters will be Bob Hoye, chief investment strategist for Institutional Advisors in Vancouver, and James Grant, publisher of Grant's Interest Rate Observer, who can never quite acknowledge that the market tinkering he often complains about extends to gold but who is always articulate, clever, and well-dressed.

Admission to the meeting costs $185 for CMRE members and spouses, $195 for others. That includes a delicious dinner with ample refreshment, some great company, and the beautiful environs of the Union League Club, just a few blocks from Grand Central Station in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

Your secretary/treasurer hopes to be there. Just enjoying the Union League Club's huge and elegant library and its many portraits of Republican presidents is worth the price of admission.
