GATA cited on CNBC by Dennis Gartman

Section: Daily Dispatches

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Dennis Gartman, publisher of The Gartman Letter (http://www.thegartmanletter.com/), mentioned GATA today on CNBC's "The Word on the Street" program. You can watch it here:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?video=1173513208&play=1

The reference begins at 17:45 when Gartman is asked to talk about commodities and particularly oil and he ties these to gold. He remarks that "the conspiratorialists are out there buying gold, the GATA boys are out there buying gold, and gold acts rather poorly. ... I'd rather leave gold alone. It still looks like it wants to go lower." Gartman speculates that gold could go down to $880.

We are grateful to Gartman for the publicity and pronouncing our name right, since this may have been the first reference to GATA on CNBC since GATA Chairman Bill Murphy was a guest there in 1999 and pointedly never invited back. But to clarify Gartman's reference, we should note that, in anticipation of the triumph of truth, justice, and the American way and the return of the Dodgers to Brooklyn, the "GATA boys" (and "GATA girls") have been advocating buying gold since the first time GATA was mentioned on CNBC. In those 10 years gold's dollar price has more than tripled, which may stack up fairly well against any trade ever recommended by The Gartman Letter.
