Public evidence persuaded ex-treasury official of gold suppression

Section: Daily Dispatches

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Your secretary/treasurer has had some cordial correspondence with former Assistant U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul Craig Roberts, whose most recent essay, "Doomed by the Myths of Free Trade: How the Economy Was Lost," sent to you Tuesday (http://www.gata.org/node/7197), asserted, as GATA does, that the U.S. government has been leasing gold to suppress its price and support the dollar. In this correspondence Roberts elaborated that he has been persuaded about the gold suppression scheme by the public evidence, such as GATA has been making known, even though, as assistant treasury secretary, he was not involved with gold issues.

CHRIS POWELL, Secretary/Treasurer
Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee Inc.
