Don't despair -- the New Orleans conference is on the way

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Drop those barbiturates! Put down that razor blade! Now step out of the bathtub! And -- oh, jeez -- wrap yourself in a towel!

This is no time for gold investors to despair, and no time for any investors to be naked anything. For the New Orleans Investment Conference is on the way.

Of course it's a hard-money, resource-oriented conference. But it's full of specific investment recommendations as well as stimulating debate and entertaining commentary.

For starters, this year's liberal-conservative-libertarian debate at the conference will feature Democratic political operative James Carville, former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tennessee, and the tireless standard bearer of the live-and-let live (if crankily) crowd, Doug Casey of Casey Research.

The conference speaker list also includes a bunch of GATA favorites -- Frank Holmes, CEO of U.S. Global Investors; Brien Lundin of Gold Newsletter; Peter Schiff of Euro-Pacific Capital; David Tice of the Prudent Bear funds; GoldMoney founder James Turk, editor of the Freemarket Gold & Money Report and consultant to GATA; and another GATA consultant, Frank Veneroso, global market strategist for Allianz Dresdner.

GATA Chairman Bill Murphy and your secretary/treasurer also will be among the speakers, and GATA board members Ed Steer of Casey Research and Catherine Austin Fitts of Solari Inc. will attend the conference as well.

The conference will be held again at the beautiful New Orleans Marriott Hotel at 555 Canal St., just a few blocks from the French Quarter and, in the other direction, just a few blocks from Harrah's Casino and the famous New Orleans Riverwalk. Dozens of excellent restaurants are within walking distance of the Marriott and dozens more are only a short taxi ride away. And of course New Orleans' balmy climate is easy to take at the onset of winter farther north.

The New Orleans conference isn't cheap but it strives to give value and there's a big discount for registering early. You can find all the details about it here:

GATA hopes to see many of its friends in New Orleans.
