Jason Hommel: Without gold and silver, you're already confiscated

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Jason Hommel's new commentary at Silver Stock Report observes that the chances of confiscation of privately held gold and silver are tiny compared with the chances of confiscation of other financial assets and, indeed, smaller still compared with the daily reality of confiscation of those other assets. Without holding gold and silver, Hommel notes, you're already being confiscated.

Hommel's point is especially well-taken in light of GATA's correspondence with the U.S. Treasury Department in 2005, in which the Treasury claimed the power to confiscate, upon proclamation of an emergency by the president, not only gold and silver but any and all financial assets:
