Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

That TheMiningWeb.com report cited to you a few hours
ago has a comment from J.P. Morgan that is implicitly
bullish for gold -- a comment that the establishment
of new short positions is deemed unlikely. For a
frankly bullish analysis from Morgan, check out
TheMiningWeb.com's accompanying story about Placer
Dome, "Placer aids gold price and vice versa":

* * *

"Hedge book reductions continue to be a focus for
almost all gold producers," said JP Morgan analyst
Richard Rossiter. "The global anti-hedging lobby
remains vocal, and non-hedgers have significantly
outperformed hedgers (on stock markets)." He felt
hedged producers such as Barrick Gold Corp. and
Placer would soon see a catch-up in share price
performance, but added this depended largely on
gold price movements. "We believe the outlook for
the gold price is positive, but we also think gold
shares should be regarded as trading positions
near term, while gold is volatile," Rossiter said.

* * *

As for what that Morgan analyst calls the "vocal
anti-hedging lobby," GATA is eager to plead guilty
as charged.
