Resources broker Rick Rule sees more gold buying ahead

Section: Daily Dispatches

10p ET Tuesday, August 13, 2002

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

What may be the biggest gold- and hard-asset-oriented
investment conference of the year is coming up again
soon: the New Orleans Investment Conference.

The conference will be held a few weeks earlier this year,
from Wednesday through Sunday, November 6-10, at the
famous Fairmont Hotel in New Orleans.

Once again this year GATA Chairman Bill Murphy will be
among the conference's distinguished speakers, and
GATA's expert consultants, Reginald H. Howe and Mike
Bolser, will join us at a special reception for our
supporters at the conference. (We had a great time at
our reception at the conference last year. I know
because, since I spent most of my time working the
GATA registration table, I'm the only guy who can
remember most of it.)

Better still, the New Orleans Investment Conference will
make a generous contribution to GATA for every GATA
supporter who attends and registers as such.

Prices for early conference registration are $595 for
the first attendee in any party and $350 for spouses and
additional guests. As of Sept. 15, the price for the
primary registration will rise to $695, but each
additional registration in a party will remain $350 each.

Accommodations at the Fairmont range from $189 per night
for a regular room to $609 per night for a hospitality
suite. (If you spring for a hospitality suite, you can hold
the GATA reception yourself. Just give us a call and we'll
be right up with the shrimp and the Mardi Gras beads. Good
luck getting us to leave when the reception is over.)

You can arrange registration for both the conference
and the hotel by calling conference headquarters at
1-800-648-8411. Just be sure to tell the registration
people that you're a GATA supporter. And if you plan to
attend the conference, please send me an email notice
(GATAComm@aol.com) so I can make sure you're informed
about the details of the GATA reception before you leave
for New Orleans.

You can learn more about the conference via the
Internet at:

a href=http://www.neworleansconference.comhttp://www.neworleansconference.com/a

There doesn't seem to be any device at the Internet site
by which you can register as a GATA supporter, so it may
be better if GATA supporters register by calling the
toll-free number.

Also among the conference's speakers this year:

-- Gen. Hugh Shelton, former chairman of the U.S. Joint
Chiefs of Staff.

-- Adrian Day of Global Strategic Asset Management.

-- Ian McAvity, editor of Deliberations on World Markets.

-- Richard Russell, editor and publisher of Dow Theory
Letters.

-- Bob Bishop, editor of Gold Mining Stock Report.

-- James Sinclair, renowned gold industry executive,
market analyst, and chairman of Tan Range Exploration.

-- Thom Calandra, editor of CBSMarketWatch.com and
just about the only journalist with a national news
organization who follows the gold and silver story
closely. This guy deserves a Pulitzer Prize just for
refusing to be intimidated out of covering the story.

-- Bernard Goldberg, the former CBS News correspondent
famous for his best-selling and aptly titled book about
the news media, quot;Bias.quot;

-- Brien Lundin, editor of Gold Newsletter, tireless and
fitting successor to the late and great Jim Blanchard, the
New Orleans Investment Conference's founder and pioneer
for the restoration of the right of Americans to own gold.
For years Brien and Gold Newsletter have relentlessly
publicized GATA and the surreptitious suppression of the
gold price.

-- Sir John Templeton, founder of the investment funds
that bear his name, who will speak live from his home in
the Bahamas via a satellite video connection.

These are only a few of the well-known people on the
conference's program. And there will be corporate
presentations from coin and bullion dealers and senior
and junior mining companies, including Harmony Gold.

Last year's conference was fascinating every day. While
it kept me pretty busy around the hotel, New Orleans is
a great city to explore and a wonderful place for enjoying
the open air as winter descends on the northern climes.

Even if you don't think you can go, check out the
conference program at the Internet site and enjoy some
of what you'll miss. Attending isn't cheap, but for
anyone with an interest in gold, silver, hard assets
generally, and GATA, this conference is bound to be
as stimulating, fun, and profitable as last year's.

Bill Murphy, Reg Howe, Mike Bolser, and I look forward
to meeting new and old friends there and advancing the
cause of gold and free markets.
