Alex Stanczyk: There is no such thing as a gold shortage
12:56p GMT Saturday, December 6, 2014
Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
Alex Stanczyk, market strategist for Anglo Far East, provides a useful reminder that "there is no such thing as a gold shortage," insofar as gold's monetary nature makes it hoarded and it always can be summoned for exchange into currencies and other assets if the ratio seems favorable. Of course monetary gold -- coins and bars -- is more conveniently exchanged than most pieces of gold jewelry, and, in areas more appreciative of gold as wealth, gold jewelry may be slower to be offered for exchange. But as Stanczyk notes, at the right exchange rate, gold will come out, if not quite as fast as "paper gold" issued by the fractional-reserve gold banking system surreptitiously underwritten by central banks as a mechanism of manipulating the currency and bond markets.
Stanczyk's commentary is headlined "There Is No Such Thing as a Gold Shortage" and it's posted at Rapid Trends here:
