Section: Daily Dispatches

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

A New York Sun editorial today reports that industrialist and philanthropist Lewis E. Lehrman, a member of the U.S. Gold Commission 30 years ago, will present on October 5 a detailed plan for restoration of a gold standard in the United States. Lehrman's plan will be announced at a conference sponsored by the Heritage Foundation in Washington.

The Sun's editorial is headlined "Plan to Return America to the Gold Standard Set to Be Offered at Washington" and you can find it here:

Lehrman, founder of the Lehrman Institute, which sponsors the Gold Standard Now project (http://www.thegoldstandardnow.org/gata), also will speak at the fall dinner meeting of the Committee for Monetary Research and Education on Thursday, October 20, in New York City.

Joining Lehrman on the program will be two other GATA favorites: economist and former banker Alasdair Macleod, who spoke at GATA's Gold Rush 2011 conference in London last month, and monetary historian and GATA consultant Edwin Vieira.

Your secretary/treasurer will be speaking too.

Also speaking will be Columbia University economics Professor Robert Mundell and celebrity investor Jim Rogers.

As usual, the CMRE event will be held at the beautiful Union League Club, 38 East 37th St., just a few blocks south of Grand Central Station. Dinner and drinks there are lovely and worth the price of admission in themselves.

Admission is $175 for CMRE members and spouses, $185 for everyone else.

The event program has been posted here:

Your secretary/treasurer would be glad to see some friends of GATA there.
